We are delighted to announce the 5th annual running of the Cardiff 5K in Whitchurch Village, a leafy suburb of Cardiff, on the evening of Sunday 29th August 2021
Its unique, once a year closed road route, is a fast and flat course that's perfect for a personal best; along with what Whitchurch Village always supplies for a fantastic atmosphere !!
The 2021 race will incorporate the Welsh 5km Road Running Championships and an Inter Area Match, which will be timed and the official results will be posted online.
The race is open to runners aged 11 and over of all abilities; so you can be a competitive runner or just enjoy a fun run in a real timed race.
Participants will be able to Race, Run, Jog or Walk this closed road, 5K race route; and either take part to raise funds for their chosen Charity or just for the Fun...the choice is theirs.
The race starts at 7pm.
All Runners get a FREE Limited Edition Names "Cardiff 5K - Race For Victory" Technical T-shirt, which features the names of all those who enter.
(WE DO NOT GIVE A FINISHERS MEDAL)

- CLUB RUNNERS
If you are competing in the Welsh Road Running Championships you MUST wear your club vests - INTER AREA RUNNERS
If you are competing in The Inter Area Championships you can wear your National / Team vests - ALL OTHER RUNNERS
It would be great if you could wear the Race T-shirt to start the event, although this is not a requirement"

COVID-19 Participant Code of Conduct
Please make sure you download and read this COVID-19 Participant Code of Conduct to help make this a safe event for everyone.
1. REGISTRATION & T-SHIRT COLLECTION
Race HQ will be located outside Barclays Bank CF14 1XQ in the centre of the Village and will be clearly signposted
IMPORTANT - To collect your Race Pack:
Please print off your entry invoice / confirmation and bring it with you between either,
- Saturday 28th August 2021 from 12 noon until 5pm,
- or from 9am until 5pm on the day of the event (Sunday 29th August 2021)
As it is likely to be very busy closer to the start time please make sure you collect your race pack in plenty of time as it includes your Race Number and Timing Chip
Everybody will receive a Cardiff 5K - Race For Victory T-shirt (size selection at point of registration)
RACE BAG DROP
Sorry, due to Covid Restrictions we are unable to operate the bag drop this year, so please come self-sufficient and ready to run
VERY IMPORTANT
ON RACE DAY - Please make sure you collect your race pack in plenty of time as it includes your Race Number and Timing Chip

2. CHECK IN
Please arrive at least 1 hour before the 7pm start time
3. WARM UP
The warm up will start at 6.30pm and will help to get everyone in the Run Spirit!
4. START & ROUTE
Start Time 7pm
The route will be clearly marked and marshalled
The route is mostly over a smooth road surface,
however this surface maybe slippery due to the time of year, so please take care and wear the appropriate footwear
5. FINISH
The Finish gantry is on Merthyr Rd in Whitchurch Village
The Race is under the rules and regulations of Welsh Althetics, so it will be timed and official results will be posted
Q: What is the inclement weather policy?
A: The Cardiff 5K - Race for Victory is scheduled to take place in good weather or light rain.
In the case of inclement and dangerous weather, we reserve the right to postpone, shorten the
route or cancel the event should the safety of event participants and volunteers become threatened.
In the event of a cancellation, customer service will remain a top priority, however refund of registration fees will NOT be possible.
Please check this website and your email before the race for any changes or cancellations.
WHEEL CHAIRS
Hand propelled wheelchairs will be allowed in the race, but no other wheeled device will be allowed
BABY STROLLERS / PUSHCHAIRS, SKATEBOARDS, NORDIC STICKS
No participant may bring dogs, baby joggers, baby strollers, skateboards, Nordic sticks, rollerblades, hand cycles, Kangoo Jumps, stilts, crutches, unauthorised bicycles or any other wheeled device on the course
DOGS
Sorry, but NO DOGS will be allowed on the course
SPECTATORS
Please come along to support your friends and family; or even better enter yourself!
EVENT PROGRAMME
The event program with timings and attractions will be posted closer to the event date
FACILITIES
TOILETS
Toilets are available at the start and finish You are free to use the toilets in all the pubs and cafes in the village
CHANGING ROOMS
There are very limited changing areas, so please Arrive Ready To GO
REFRESHMENTS
Refreshments will be available for you to purchase at the Start / Finish area
FIRST AID
Acute Medics we be in attendance.
Please alert a marshal if you, or any others, require assistance
LOCAL PARKING
Parking is limited within the area of the village so please refrain from using your car, or park away from the general area to avoid over congestion
ADDITIONAL PARKING
Along with the permanent Whitchurch Village car parks Additional car parking will be available in these 2 places from 4pm - Look out for the signs !!!

The 5K Course
On Sunday 29th August 2021 a temporary road closure will be implemented from 5pm till 9pm on the section of Merthyr Road between The Plough and the Fino Lounge.
This will house the Start / Finish Area
The race starts at 7pm To ensure the safety of competitors / marshals and the public it will involve the implementation of a temporary rolling road closure for a short period of time between 6:00pm and 8:00pm mainly to the anticlockwise side of the road route
All the road closures will be controlled and managed by the Cardiff City Council Traffic Management Team
